Tanur boat tragedy: Police file 13,186-page chargesheet, 12 accused

Malappuram: Police have filed a 13,186-page chargesheet in the Tanur boat tragedy that claimed 22 lives. The chargesheet has named 12 individuals including government employees as accused. 

The chargesheet submission comes 85 days after the tragedy that shocked Kerala. It contains  865 documents/items and 386 witness statements.

Interestingly, the chargesheet submission also comes at a time when the accused including boat owner Nasser are in judicial custody. 

A 21-member team is probing the case. It is learnt that the team has initiated procedures to get prior sanction from the competent authority to prosecute government employees accused in the case.
