Kochi user spends Rs 17,622 on Chicken Mandi: Know more about what city ordered on Swiggy in 2024

As we're bidding farewell to 2024, let's take a flavorful journey through the eating choices of Kerala's Kochi, as revealed by online food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy's year-end data. In this year, Kochi's food scene thrived, blending local flavours and global trends.
Kochi’s Favourite Dishes
Swiggy saw a major rise in demand for a variety of foods throughout the year:
- Chicken Biryani was the most popular dish, with over 1.1 million plates ordered. It was followed closely by Non-Veg Strips, Chicken Fry and Chicken Gravy.
- Snacks were also in high demand. Chicken Shawarma topped the list with 79,713 orders, while Chicken Roll and Chicken Momos came in second and third.
- For desserts, Chocolate Lava Cake was the clear favourite, with 19,381 cakes ordered. Chocolate Cream Cake also saw strong demand, making it a local hit.
- In the morning, Dosa was the most ordered breakfast dish, with 2.23 lakh dosas delivered. Idli, Kadala Gravy, Veg Strips and Channa Gravy were also popular choices.
- Dinner time saw the highest number of orders, with 3.1 million meals delivered during the evening.
Order trends
Some Kochi residents went all out with their orders. One user spent Rs 17,622 on 18 Chicken Mandi Spicy, while another spent Rs 15,280 on 40 Chicken Biryanis and various sides.
Interestingly, over 3,678 orders were placed in Incognito Mode--an option allowing people to indulge without anyone knowing! According to Swiggy, those ordered via Incognito Mode chose to hide their
guilty indulging in chicken binging from their families!

Nationally, Biryani continued its reign, with 83 million servings ordered across the country, cementing its status as the favourite food for the ninth year in a row. Dosa also stood out with 23 million orders, proving that traditional foods are still beloved. Delivery partners covered an incredible 1.96 billion kilometres, showing their dedication to delivering every meal.
Kerala’s food trends in 2023
Swiggy’s 2023 data had revealed a dynamic culinary landscape. The year saw a near-even split between vegetarian (40%) and non-vegetarian (60%) orders. Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Thiruvananthapuram emerged as the top districts for veg orders, while Kollam, Kozhikode, and Thiruvananthapuram led for non-veg preferences. Kochi stood out for its indulgent spending, with a user splurging Rs 19,845 on a single order. Chicken Biryani was Kerala's favourite dish, followed by Chicken Fried Rice and Paneer Butter Masala.
