Thiruvananthapuram: Swapna Suresh, a key accused in the gold smuggling case, has supported co-accused Sarith Kumar’s allegations that ADGP M R Ajith Kumar aided their escape from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru. Sarith noted that Swapna managed to enter Bengaluru during the stringent Covid-19 lockdown, when travel restrictions and police checks were rigorously enforced. Swapna has corroborated this claim.

According to Sarith, another accused in the case, Sandeep, accompanied Swapna on her journey to Bengaluru. Sarith further alleged that the former private secretary to Kerala Chief Minister M Sivasankar, who was closely linked to the case, received assistance from Ajith Kumar and was able to leave Kerala by following a route suggested by the senior police officer.

Sarith claimed that Ajith Kumar not only planned the route but also advised on which checkpoints to avoid.

Swapna alleged that ADGP Ajith Kumar provided extensive assistance to Sivasankar from within the police department. However, she stated that she did not know Ajith Kumar personally.

She also highlighted that high-level intervention during their journey to Bengaluru helped them evade police checks. While she could not confirm Ajith Kumar’s direct involvement in her escape, she suggested that such intervention was likely orchestrated by him.
