Alapuzha: Independent candidate and former veteran CPM leader G Sudhakaran has triggered a massive political controversy following alleged casteist remarks directed at senior CPM leader and former MP C S Sujatha. Speaking at an election campaign event in Paravur, within the Ambalapuzha constituency, Sudhakaran made several derogatory comments regarding Sujatha’s role in the LDF campaign.
Sudhakaran alleged that Sujatha was selectively visiting households based on caste while campaigning for the LDF. "Sujatha only visits the homes of Nairs. She wears jasmine and tulsi flowers to signal her Nair identity. She will not get any Nair votes here," Sudhakaran claimed. He further accused the LDF camp of attempting to create a rift between the Nair and Dheevara communities. "Her place is Kayamkulam, yet she has come to stay in Ambalapuzha for this," he added.

Allegations against SFI and CM Pinarayi Vijayan

In a major escalation, the veteran leader also raised the death of his brother, Bhuvaneswaran, blaming "SFI criminals" for the tragedy. Sudhakaran claimed that CPM members had pressured Bhuvaneswaran into going to college on the day of the incident.

"Bhuvaneswaran did not end up in that situation naturally; SFI goons created the circumstances that led to his killing," he alleged. In a direct jab at the Chief Minister, he further asked, "Is there a martyr in Pinarayi Vijayan’s house?"

C S Sujatha’s response

Responding to the remarks, C S Sujatha questioned the malice behind Sudhakaran’s observations. She asked what was wrong with visiting the homes of constituents to seek votes for the LDF candidate, H Salam, during an election. Dismissing the veteran leader's comments as "extremely childish”, she expressed surprise at how a standard door-to-door campaign could be viewed with such ill intent.
