Sub Inspector dismissed for having links with soil-sand mafia

Thodupuzha: Karimannoor SI, K A Aby was dismissed from service by the Ernakulam Range DIG Putta Vimaladithya on finding links with sand mafia. The order also states that an appeal can be submitted to the Inspector General of Police, South Region within 60 days.

The incident came to light following an investigation in February and March 2023. M R. Madhubabu, then Thodupuzha DySP, conducted an investigation and registered a case on the basis of confidential information that a huge amount of soil is being taken illegally in Karimannoor. After checking the records of the vehicle and the call records of the drivers, it was found that Aby was connected with sand mining. At this time, he was the SHO of Karimannoor.

During the 30 years of service, Aby worked mostly around Thodupuzha. The investigation also found that he was in touch with the sand mafia all this while.
