Starvation, mental torture inside convent, alleges Sister Lucy Kalappura
Mananthavady: Sister Lucy Kalappura, who was dismissed recently from the Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) of the Catholic Church over grounds of indiscipline, has further raised serious allegations against church leadership.
She alleged of assault and abuse inside the convent. No proper food is being provided and is subjected to various mental torture for the past one and half months, she said.
She also alleged that attempts are being made to starve her to death. They frequently demand to go away from the convent. There is serious discrimination in the convent, she further alleged adding that she has been asked to not wear church dress.
Even though three complaints have been filed with police against church authorities, no action has been taken yet, she stated.
Sister Lucy Kalappura has been ousted from Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC), a religious congregation of the catholic church. She was expelled for leading a lifestyle inappropriate to the oath taken and violating norms of the congregation and the church.
However, Mananthavady Munsiff Court stayed the expulsion temporarily and will be taken up again on January 29.
