New Delhi: Journalist Siddique Kappan's wife Raihanath approached Mathura Court seeking permission to meet him as he is undergoing treatment in Delhi AIIMS.

Raihanath moved court alleging that the police who guard him in hospital stop her and lawyers from meeting Kappan. She also forwarded a letter to Allahabad high court chief justice requesting permission to meet her husband.

Siddique Kappan was shifted to Delhi AIIMS for treatment from Mathura prison on April 30 following the order of the supreme court. Raihanath and son had reached Uttar Pradesh from Kerala and have been trying to meet Kappan since May 1.

However, the police refused to let them meet Kappan pointing out the prison rule that the prisoners who are undergoing treatment cannot meet relatives or lawyers outside the prison. Following this, Raihanath approached Mathura court and Allahabad high court chief justice.
