Shobhana George turns model for Khadi Board

Kochi: Vice chairperson of Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board and former MLA Shobhana George is busy acting in advertisements without bothering about the upcoming election. Though she represented Chengannur constituency thrice before, she has a different opinion now.
Shobhana George believes that one should not be an MLA to serve the public. She is confident that she has successfully completed her responsibility in Khadi Board. She opens up about her activities to ‘Mathrubhumi’.
Any plans to leave politics and take up acting?
I took up acting as we had no other option. We approached many stars to act in ad films for promotion of Khadi dresses. But their demand was unaffordable for us. Some wanted Rs 20 lakh as remuneration while some others wanted Rs 5 lakh for each change of dress.
We wasted about two years going after stars. It was then some of my social media friends suggested me to act in ad films. They offered me all support and thus I acted in the ad.
No plans to enter electoral fray?
I don’t think one should be elected as MLA to serve the public. I understood all that now. We only have to do our duties and responsibilities and help the poor people through that. I am able to do that now. We could save Khadi Board from losses.
Being a popular leader of Chengannur, can you remain inactive?
There is Saji Cherian to look after Chengannur. My place is Chengannur. I don’t want to contest from other places.
