Perunna: By praising Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala during the inauguration of Mannam Jayanthi celebrations on Thursday, NSS General Secretary G. Sukumaran Nair clarified the organisation’s changed stance towards the senior Congress leader. While addressing the audience, Sukumaran Nair said, "Ramesh Chennithala is the son of NSS. He is the most suitable person to inaugurate the celebrations. He is here not as a Congress person. He is here as the son of NSS."

It was after 11 years of absence that Ramesh Chennithala was invited to the NSS headquarters at Changanassery in connection with the Mannam Jayanthi celebrations. His return to the Perunna event after such a long time sparked discussions. The invitation extended by the NSS to Chennithala, following a previous dispute over Sukumaran Nair's comments regarding Chennithala's rejection of the position, has become a topic of conversation.

Chennithala's visit to the event was noteworthy as no invitation was extended to any of the state ministers or leaders from the Congress or BJP. The NSS invited him after the previously scheduled chief guest, Attorney General Venkatramani, withdrew from the event.

Earlier, Vellapally Natesan had also supported Ramesh Chennithala, saying that Chennithala was suitable to be the Chief Minister. Following this, Chennithala received an invitation to the Samastha event as well.
