Sectarianism in Palakkad: CPM demotes two former MLAs

Palakkad: CPM district secretariat members and former MLAs PK Sasi and VK Chandran have been demoted to the district committee for sectarian activities.

Chamunni, a district committee member, has been demoted to the area committee. 

Party had set up an inquiry commission to investigate the matter. The action comes following the findings of the commission.

During the CPM district secretariat meeting on Tuesday, the leaders were issued a show-cause notice regarding their involvement in sectarian activities within the party. However, as their response was deemed unsatisfactory, the decision to demote them has been implemented.

Earlier, a mass action was taken in Alappuzha district over similar allegations. As many as 40 party workers faced action. District secretariat members PP Chitharanjan, MLA, and M Sathyapalan, were demoted to the district committee.
