SC rejects Jolly Joseph's plea seeking acquittal in death of her husband

New Delhi: The supreme court rejected Jolly’s plea seeking acquittal in the Koodathayi serial murder case. While rejecting the plea, Justices M M Sundaresh, SVN Bhatti and others have observed that, this is one of the rarest and extreme cases in Kerala.
Jolly Joseph is the main accused in the case of the death of six of her relatives within a period spanning 14 years. Jolly sought acquittal in the case of the death of her husband Roy Thomas, whose food she had allegedly poisoned. Jolly’s main argument is that there is no evidence to prove her involvement in the death.
Six members of Jolly’s family, including her husband and mother-in-law Annamma Thomas, died under mysterious circumstances. It was in 2019 that the news about the series of murders that shook Kerala came out.
