'No mixed-gender exercises'; Samastha AP Sunni section imposes restrictions

Kozhikode: Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama (AP Sunnis) on Saturday issued new guidelines regarding exercise practices for its followers, highlighting certain conditions and restrictions. A press release from the organisation advises believers to be cautious when engaging in exercises that do not align with religious principles.
The note specifically warns against mixed-gender exercise sessions, stating that such activities are considered unreligious. The press release, issued by the Samastha mushavara yogam, further states that activities such as classes and songs that are against the Islamic faith should not be organised. It urges Sunni followers to be mindful and avoid participating in these practices.
This comes after controversies related to the ‘Multi-Exercise Combination 7 (MEC 7)’ exercise routine, which had sparked debate earlier. However, the latest release does not name any specific individuals or groups but instead offers these restrictions as a general suggestion for believers to follow.
