Registration of migrant workers, contractors, employers begins in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The labour department has begun the exercise of registering the guest workers in Kerala. The registration commenced on Monday via Athidhi portal. The registration process is time bound and the labour department might seek the help of other government departments in completing the work. Minister Sivankutty said that the authorities are considering the possibilities of setting up registration help desks at railway stations where migrant workers arrive in large numbers.
Facilities will be set for registering at labour department offices, worksites, and labour camps. The contractors and employers can also register in the portal. The workers can enter their personal information in the site https://athidhi.lc.kerala.gov.in/ using their mobile number.
Labour commissioner Arjun Pandian informed that the process aims at developing a comprehensive database of migrant workers and said that enrolling in the portal will also help in ensuring their social security. The IAS officer also informed that from now on the migrant workers will be able to avail Awaz health insurance and other benefits only by using a unique ID which they will receive upon registering in the Adithi portal.
