Free drug and food banks: Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cancer Centre gives a shot in arm to patients

The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram has introduced new initiatives to make life easier for its patients and their bystanders. The centre has started a free drug bank and a free food bank to support those who need it the most.
Free Medication
The drug bank, located at the Patient Welfare and Service Block, now has an expanded counter. It provides free medicines, including chemotherapy drugs, antibiotics, disposables, and supportive medications, to patients from economically weaker backgrounds. This facility also offers resting areas and other services to support patients and their bystanders during treatment.
Free Meals
The food bank is another thoughtful step by RCC. It provides free meals to patients and their bystanders who visit the hospital for outpatient (OP) services. Until now, free meals were available only to Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders admitted to the hospital. With this new initiative, even those coming for OP treatments can benefit.
How to Support the Initiative
Anyone wishing to support this noble cause can donate. Donations can be made directly at the hospital, online, or by cheque or demand draft addressed to the Director, RCC Thiruvananthapuram. Here are the bank details for contributions:
