Thiruvananthapuram: The delayed distribution of RC and license cards, due to payment issues with contractors, is set to resume soon. The government-approved sum of Rs 8.68 crore will be handed over to the company on Monday.

Printing and distribution of cards will soon be reinstated. Postal department, on Saturday, took over around one lakh cards printed in a month, which were stored at the Thevara office.

The distribution as well as printing had been stopped since December. Although the decision to settle printing charges was made a month prior, it was postponed due to the government's financial constraints. Following the order, printing of 2000 cards per day has commenced.

Postal department also has to be paid a due of Rs 6 crore. It remains undecided whether the postal department will continue distribution. Authorities indicate that the postal department has started the distribution process as per the government’s request.

Minister KB Ganesh Kumar had announced in the parliament that RC and licences would be distributed via offices due to payment issues with the postal department, even though there was no formal order to that effect.
