Rape attempt on Kolkata native at Vypin beach, clothes ripped off

Vypin: 19-year-old girl from Kolkata was a victim of a rape attempt at Valappu beach here on Thursday night. 

On Friday, the police took the autorickshaw driver, who drove the girl to the beach, into custody and seized his vehicle. Meanwhile, the police have extended their probe to identify the whereabouts of the person who attacked the girl. 

The Rural SP of Aluva, along with other officers, arrived on the spot after the girl's friend notified the incident to the police. Her clothes were all ripped when the police found her on the beach. The victim was later shifted to Ernakulam General Hospital for further treatment. The autorickshaw driver was taken into custody based on the CCTV footage from the area. 

The driver told police he left soon after dropping off the girl at the beach. It is suspected the girl was assaulted while she was waiting for her friend at the beach.
