Arjun Aayanki says mobile phone thrown into river; Customs sends notice to Sajesh

Kochi: Former DYFI member Arjun Aayanki who was arrested on Monday in connection with the Ramanattukara gold smuggling case said he had destroyed all evidences of the quotation gang. The Kannur native who turned up for Customs interrogation on Monday, said he had thrown his mobile phone into a river. Arjun Aayanki is the prime person who was supposed to receive the smuggled gold at the Karipur airport.
The Customs arrested Arjun on Monday as his involvement in several gold smuggling cases were suspected after his detailed interrogation by Customs. The arrest was recorded on Monday evening after recording his statement under Section 108 of the customs act. Arjun appeared before the customs and preventive office in Kochi. The customs took him under custody by evening and recorded his arrest.
Meanwhile, Customs has sent notice to former DYFI office bearer Sajesh regarding the case. He was directed to appear for interrogation on Wednesday regarding the Karipur smuggling case. Sajesh is from Chembilode and was DYFI Chembilode area secretary. After the news of his car being involved in the smuggling, Sajesh was promptly expelled from the party.
