Binoy Viswam says Raj Bhavan functions as BJP camps, position of Governor unnecessary

Kannur: Raj Bhavans have become BJP camp offices and the post of Governor is left open for those who have no place in the mainstream political scene, CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam said. The Communist party holds the view that the post of the governor is unnecessary and wasteful. The President, Chief Minister and Chief Justice can perform the duties given to the governor, he added.
He was inaugurating a seminar organised under the leadership of the CPI district council titled ‘Parliamentary system- Governors as political tools’.
The RSS played no part in the country’s freedom struggle, CPM convenor E.P Jayarajan, who also participated in the seminar was quoted as saying. Both the Congress and the Communist parties have played their part in the freedom struggle but the RSS and the Hindu Mahasabha have a tradition of betraying these struggles.
