R Sreelekha, first woman DGP in Kerala, retires from service

Thiruvananthapuram: R Sreelekha, the first woman IPS officer and woman DGP in Kerala, retired from service on Thursday. She retired as the Director General of Fire Force. She is a 1987 batch IPS officer.

R Sreelekha retired without any official ceremonies. Though Guard of Honour and other events were organised at the Fire Force headquarters, Sreelekha left the office after extending New Year greeting to her colleagues.

State Police Chief Loknath Behera and other senior IPS officers arrived at the Fire Force headquarters from morning itself to greet Sreelekha on her retirement day.
