Puthuppally bypoll verdict just hours away; UDF, LDF keep fingers crossed

Kottayam: The political fronts in Kerala are keeping their fingers crossed as vote counting in the Puthuppally by-election begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The result is expected to be out by 10 a.m.

The Puthuppally seat went vacant after the demise of Congress stalwart and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Chandy Oommen (UDF), Jaick C. Thomas (LDF), and Lijin Lal (NDA) are the key candidates contesting for the seat.

While UDF expects to grab a majority of 25,000 -32,000 votes, LDF pins their hope on a surprise win with a narrow lead of 5,000 votes. Meanwhile, the BJP hopes to better their performance in the constituency.
