Pulse polio drive begins in Kerala

Kozhikode: Pulse Polio Immunisation drive began on Sunday in various districts of Kerala covering 25 lakh children up to five years of age.
The polio drive was postponed due to Covid vaccination which started on January 16.
The government issued guidelines to all districts to ensure safe conduct of the immunisation on Sunday. Face shields, gloves and N-95 masks are mandatory for all vaccinators. Those with any symptoms will not be engaged for immunisation work. Sanitisation of hands before and after the vaccination is must.
Each booth for vaccination will have to maintain social distancing. As many as 24,49,222 children will be covered and the drops will be administered between 8 am and 5 pm.
Health minister K K Shailaja said that 24,690 booths have been set up across the state and trained vaccinators will be deployed.
