Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has informed a Kochi court that the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) had prepared a hit list containing the names of 950 individuals across Kerala.

The revelation came in a report submitted by the NIA to the special court while opposing the bail pleas of four PFI members in a case. According to the agency, the hit list was compiled by an organised group within the PFI that also received special training to plan and execute attacks.

The NIA said the information was obtained from PFI operatives arrested in various cases. The list reportedly includes political leaders and even a former district judge.

In the investigation into the murder of RSS leader Srinivasan, a list of 240 names was recovered from Sirajuddin, one of the accused. Additional lists were found from other PFI members: five names from absconding operative Abdul Wahid, 232 from another accused, and 500 names from Ayub.

The agency also said that a PFI arms training camp was conducted at Periyar Valley in Aluva.

The NIA is currently probing two separate cases related to PFI activities in Kerala.
