Thrissur: With the Thrissur Pooram being disrupted, political mudslinging is at its peak at the moment.

Thrissur UDF candidate K Muraleedharan accused the state and central government of jointly disrupting the Pooram festival for electoral gains.

The veteran Congress leader also accused the CPM and BJP of having a secret nexus. He accused the cops of robbing the charm of the festivities through their lackadaisical attitude.

Congress leadership launched a scathing attack against the alleged police high handedness associated with the incident.

Kerala opposition leader V D Satheesan also accused the officials concerned of hatching a conspiracy to dampen the spirits of Thrissur Pooram.

Meanwhile Suresh Gopi, the NDA candidate from Thrissur, suspected it was a ‘Sabarimala-like’ attack. He downplayed the ordeal as a cheap tactic of the ruling party to win over votes in the upcoming elections. He accused the CPM of creating problems and then solving it by themselves.

Meanwhile, LDF poll candidate V S Sunil Kumar opined that, “The unnecessary interference by the cops had created friction, the police acted without imbibing the spirit of Pooram, hence eventually killing all the fun!”

Sundar Menon, president of the Thiruvambady Devaswom accused various parties of hatching plans to destroy the Pooram.
