Police register case against anti-SilverLine protestors, including MLA Anoop Jacob

Kochi: Police booked 13 persons, including MLA Anoop Jacob, for removing survey stones amid the anti-SilverLine protests at Chottanikkara. They are charged with non-bailable offences for hindering the survey procedures and uprooting survey stones.  

Another case has been registered by the Chottanikkara police, against UDF leaders, including DCC president Mohammed Shiyas, for destroying the public assets.

The survey procedures were impeded here on Monday by a group of UDF workers. The tense stand-off between police and protestors soon turned violent, and the officials were forced to suspend the process.

Anoop Jacob MLA was along with the protestors, and later DCC president Mohammed Shiyas, KPCC vice president VP Sajeendran, general secretary Deepthi Mary Varghese arrived at the spot. Meanwhile, the Congress workers plucked off five survey stones from here and threw them into a stream. They also threw the other survey stones and tools in the vehicle brought by the officials, into the nearby fields.
