IB officer death: Police raid male friend’s Malappuram home, seize evidence

Malappuram: The Thiruvananthapuram police raided the house of Sukanth, a friend of the deceased IB officer Megha Madhusudhanan, in connection with her death. The raid, conducted in Sukanth's residence on Sunday night in Malappuram, led to the recovery of crucial evidence, including laptop, mobile phone, diaries, and travel documents.
Sukanth, who has been named as a key suspect in the case, is absconding, with police continuing their search efforts. A team from Thiruvananthapuram is currently stationed in Malappuram to carry out further investigation. This marks the first time authorities have searched his house as part of the ongoing probe into the officer's death.
Recovered documents suggest that Sukanth had travelled with the victim to multiple locations, with evidence pointing to further exploitation. Investigators believe the contents of Sukanth’s electronic devices, including chat logs and files, may provide crucial insights into the case.
The body of Megha Madhusudhanan, an IB officer, was found on March 24 after being struck by a train near the Pettah railway overpass. Initially, the police treated the case as unnatural death. However, following a complaint filed by the victim’s family, allegations surfaced that Sukanth had financially exploited the officer and sexually assaulted her. Evidence handed over by the family led to the filing of rape charges against him.
Investigators have found that Sukanth, originally from Malappuram, had befriended Megha, taking money from her on several occasions. The police also found out that he had taken her to Chennai and Kochi, where she was harassed. Despite several efforts to locate him, Sukanth remains at large.
