'Please no boards with my photo, nor posters disparaging others; It's not Communist way'

Kannur: Following the heavy electoral defeat of the Left Democratic Front, CPM state committee member P Jayarajan has publicly distanced himself from various boards and posters that appeared across the state in his support.
In a Facebook post, he demanded an immediate end to social media campaigns that glorify him while disparaging other members of the party leadership. These posters, which appeared in areas such as Azhikode, Mattannur and Taliparamba, carried the slogan "Call P Jayarajan, Save the Party."
This surge in support followed internal calls for the removal of CPM state secretary M V Govindan and district secretary K K Ragesh after the party's debacle.
Jayarajan characterised the use of flex boards for personal promotion as "Congress culture”, asserting that such methods are fundamentally at odds with Communist organisational principles. He noted that the CPM is not a party that operates solely for elections and that it has a long history of objectively analysing both victories and defeats to implement necessary corrections.
He further explained that while the party leadership has acknowledged the need for a serious review of the assembly election results, public criticism of specific leaders only serves to provide right-wing opponents with ammunition to attack the party. Consequently, he urged supporters to avoid open debates on social media and instead communicate their views through the appropriate internal party channels.
