PV Anvar's allegation: DGP holds talks with CM; moves for action underway

New Delhi: In the wake of serious allegations levelled by MLA P.V. Anvar against the police and the Home Department, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is holding a meeting with Director General of Police (DGP) Shaik Darvesh Saheb at the Nattakom guest house in Kottayam on Monday.
There are indications that an investigation may be initiated, with possible suspension of both ADGP Ajith Kumar and Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das. Sujith Das, a former SP of Malappuram, is also under scrutiny for allegedly pressuring Anvar to withdraw a complaint related to tree cutting.
The controversy escalated with further allegations against ADGP Ajith Kumar and connections between him and the Chief Minister’s political secretary P Sasi. This situation prompted Chief Minister Vijayan to request a report from the police chief.
Anvar, a Left Independent MLA, has intensified the issue by making more accusations against ADGP Kumar on Sunday. He claimed that he had been targeted with death threats and he had previously leaked phone conversations to expose corruption. Anvar also released a phone conversation in which Sujith Das allegedly tried to persuade him to withdraw his complaint about illegal tree cutting when Das was the Malappuram SP.
Meanwhile, CPM state secretary MV Govindan has also vowed strict action against those found guilty.
The allegations have put the Home Department, led by Vijayan, under scrutiny and have stirred a political controversy in the state.
Revelations on custodial death of Tamir Jifri
In a latest revelation, MLA PV Anvar has released a phone conversation involving SP Sujith Das, revealing that the death of Tamir Jifri in police custody was due to neglect of crucial medical information. The conversation discloses that two MDMA packets ingested by Jifri were unknown to both the police and other individuals present. One of these packets ruptured inside Jifri’s stomach, leading to a critical condition where 90 percent of his arteries were blocked, potentially causing a fatal heart condition.Jifri was held at the station for four hours before being sent to the hospital. Had the severity of his condition been known earlier, he could have been taken to the hospital sooner. The involved police officers have been granted bail, and an investigation is underway.
