Pettah abduction: DNA report confirms child belongs to vagrant couple

Thiruvananthapuram: The DNA results confirm that the two year old abducted girl child of Pettah belongs to the vagrant couple. Based on this, Pettah police has submitted a report to the Child Welfare Committee, suggesting the release of the child to her parents.
The child was abducted on 18 February, after midnight. The police found her by 7.45pm, the next day.
The accused, Hasankutty aliyas Kabir (49), a history-sheeter, was arrested from Chinnakada, Kollam, on March 3, Sunday. The police received information regarding the identity of the accused from a CCTV footage and confirmed it with the help of jail authorities. The accused is charged with abduction, POSCO, and attempt to murder, among others.
