Pathanamthitta: Second-year students of Government Nursing College in Pathanamthitta are facing an issue where they are being asked to pay van fee despite no vehicle being available for transportation. The fee notice for the 2024-25 academic year includes a charge of ₹1,740 for van service that do not exist.

In addition to this, a tuition fee of ₹17,370 and other miscellaneous fees amount to ₹1,740, bringing the total amount each student has to pay to ₹20,850.

The Government Nursing College in Pathanamthitta, which lacks basic facilities and has not received INC approval, saw students protesting four months ago over various issues. At that time, it was assured that problems such as absence of a college building and transport for students would be addressed. However, even with the arrival of a new batch, no improvements have been made.

Due to the absence of a van, students are currently spending their own money to travel to the Konni Medical College for practical classes and other requirements.

Authorities have responded by stating that efforts are underway to secure funds for a van from the finance department, but it will take months before the van service can begin.

Meanwhile, students and parents are questioning why they are being charged for a van service that is not available. Since the college opened, students have been requesting transport facilities, but a solution to their travel difficulties has yet to be provided.
