Found in pit after meeting married woman: Two questioned in mysterious death of Pathanamthitta man

Pathanamthitta (Kerala): The investigation into the mysterious death of a 36-year-old man in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district has gathered pace, with police questioning two relatives of a married woman who was reportedly in a relationship with the deceased.
Sandeep, a resident of Kodumudi near Chittar, was found unconscious inside a pit close to a neighbouring house on Sunday night. He was rushed to Pathanamthitta General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
While the Chittar Police initially registered a case of unnatural death, fresh allegations by Sandeep's family have shifted the focus of the investigation towards a possible assault linked to his personal relationship.
According to police, Sandeep had left home on Sunday evening to meet a married woman with whom he was allegedly involved.
Investigators said he wanted to bring the woman to live with him. The woman had recently been hospitalised after an alleged suicide attempt.
Family members have claimed that Sandeep was attacked by the woman's relatives before his body was discovered.
Based on these allegations, police are now questioning two of the woman's relatives to establish what transpired in the hours leading up to his death.
Officials said no arrests have been made so far, and the investigation remains at a preliminary stage. Police are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death before deciding on further legal action.
The body has been kept at the government hospital for autopsy, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify the family's allegations.
