Kannur: Three more persons have been arrested in connection with the Panoor bomb blast. According to the police, the persons arrested on Thursday are Sajilesh, Jijosh (both are from Kadirur) and Babu of Vadakara. Sajilesh is an accused in Kadirur Manoj murder case. The police said that, the gunpowder used in the making of bomb was provided by Babu. There are 12 accused in the case of which two persons are undergoing treatment in a hospital as they suffered injuries in the blast. Sheril, the second accused in the case, was got killed in the blast.

Meanwhile, RMP state secretary N Venu has alleged that, the conspiracy behind the Panoor bomb blast was hatched at Vadakara. ‘There was a conspiracy behind the making of bomb at Panoor as it was intended to use during the election to scuttle the process’, he said. ‘The investigation regarding this should be handed over to an independent agency. Election Commission also should intervene in this issue. One person was arrested from Vadakara. There are clear indications that the target was UDF candidate’, Venu said.

He also alleged that such an operation could not be possible without the knowledge and consent of top CPM leaders including the district secretaries of Kozhikode and Kannur. ‘We suspect that bombs made were stocked up at various places in and around Vadakara. Police should conduct raids to seize these bombs’, Venu demanded.
