Wayanad tragedy: State mourning in Kerala, but Pandalam Municipality celebrates with cake cutting

Pandalam (Pathanamthitta): Despite the State government's declaration of official mourning for the Wayanad landslide tragedy, a celebratory event took place at the Pandalam Municipality's wellness centre.

The ceremony, held on Tuesday evening at the wellness centre in Mudiyoorkonam, featured a cake-cutting by Municipal Chairperson Suseela Santhosh. Benny Mathew, Chairman of the Development Standing Committee of the Municipality, and other wellness centre officials were also in attendance. The event marked the anniversary of the wellness centre.

This celebration occurred after the lowering of the National Flag to half-mast and expressions of condolence at the municipal council meeting earlier that day. Many ruling party members and councillors opted not to attend the celebration out of respect for the ongoing mourning. The State observed two days of mourning starting from Tuesday.
