Palakkad Bypoll: UDF's Rahul Mamkootathil claims lower voter turnout will boost their majority

Palakkad: UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil stated that a lower voter turnout would work in their favour, leading to an increased majority for the UDF. He claimed that many BJP members have announced that they will not vote for the party, with some saying they have no reason to vote for the BJP. These individuals, Mamkootathil explained, are staunch BJP supporters who would rather not vote at all than support another party. He suggested that such a scenario could lead to a reduced voter turnout. Mamkootathil also stressed that voters from secular alliances are casting their votes in a well-organised manner.
He further noted that development would be the key factor influencing voters, adding that no open discussions on development have been held, and the opposing allegations against his campaign are baseless.
BJP has strong support: NDA candidate C Krishnakumar
Meanwhile, NDA candidate C Krishnakumar stated that the people of Palakkad are aligned with the BJP. He predicted a 10,000-vote majority for the BJP in the constituency, citing their ongoing efforts in the region since 2021. He added that their grassroots support base in Palakkad has significantly grown.
Krishnakumar further asserted that every development brought to Palakkad is a result of NDA's initiatives, and the people are aware of this. He also mentioned that if an NDA representative is elected, Palakkad can expect substantial progress. When asked if the controversy surrounding Sandeep Warrier's exit would affect the election, Krishnakumar responded with a rhetorical question, "Has one leaf fallen here?" He arrived at the polling booth accompanied by his wife.
