Padmaprabha Gowder and R Rajasree share the same vision: Shashi Tharoor

Kalpetta: Presenting the prestigious Padmaprabha Award to writer R Rajasree, Shashi Tharoor MP remarked that the core vision championed by the late leader Padmaprabha Gowder and the award recipient is one and the same. Speaking at the ceremony held at the Krishnagowder Hall at Puliyarmala, Tharoor highlighted that Padmaprabha Gowder was an individual who understood the world deeply through reading.

Tharoor noted that historic debates and discussions of socialist movements often unfolded right under Padmaprabha's residence, shaping him into a voice for the underprivileged.

He added that when educators teaching Malayalam venture into writing, it deserves special appreciation. Tharoor pointed out that with the publication of her books, readers across Kerala sought out ‘Rajasree Teacher’ from Brennen College in Thalassery.

“The core philosophy put forward by Padmaprabha Gowder is that no human being is excess and that everyone is essential, encompassing tribal communities, the poor and all marginalised sections. This is precisely the vision Rajasree advances through her literary works as well. Therefore, Rajasree is thoroughly deserving of this honour,” Tharoor said.
