New Delhi: Shortly after the conclusion of the Winter Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the parliamentary interventions of RSP MP from Kollam N K Premachandran during a tea reception hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Modi said that the manner in which members like Premachandran intervene in debates should be emulated by others. The Prime Minister also exchanged pleasantries with MP Priyanka Gandhi regarding Wayanad.

Priyanka Gandhi said that she was trying to follow Premachandran’s approach. Priyanka also said she was learning Malayalam. Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, K Ram Mohan Naidu, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Chirag Paswan and Pralhad Joshi were also present at the gathering.

The Prime Minister commended members like Premachandran for participating in debates with thorough preparation. At the same time, Premachandran pointed out that rushing Bills through Parliament was not appropriate, citing the Bill introduced in place of the employment guarantee scheme and the nuclear energy Bill.

Speaker Om Birla remarked that ample time had been allotted for discussions this time. Premachandran countered by asking whether the debates had not, in fact, been hurried through late at night.
