New Vande Bharat train schedule, granted stop at Tirur

Thiruvananthapuram: The schedule for Kerala’s second Vande Bharat express has been finalised. The service will run for six days a week. The train will depart from Kasaragod at 7 AM and reach Thiruvananthapuram by 3:05 PM. The return trip will begin from Thiruvananthapuram at 4:05 PM and reach Kasaragod at 11:58 PM.
The train running via Alappuzha has also been allotted a stop at Tirur. The second Vande Bharat train will be flagged off by the Prime Minister on Sunday at 12 PM from Kasaragod via video conference. Minister of state, V Muraleedharan and Railway Minister V Abdurahiman will attend the inaugural function.
On Sunday, special welcome programmes will be held at Payyannur, Kannur, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kayamkulam, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram stations.
During its normal schedule, the train will make stops at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. The travel time from Kasargaod to Thiruvananthapuram is eight hours.
Yesterday, ET Mohammed Basheer MP announced the stop at Tirur via a Facebook post.
‘Sharing a happy news. The Railways have informed that the new Vande Bharat train has been allotted a stop at Tirur, a major station in Malappuram district. In the past few days, the Railway Minister and the concerned authorities held a meeting for this purpose. A stop at Tirur should be allotted to the first Vande Bharat too. Efforts for the same are continuing,’ the MP wrote on Facebook.
