Kozhikode: A former employee of the Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation Limited (KSMDFC Ltd) was appointed as General Manager in the same office, that too without an appointment order. For the past five days the person has been working at the KSMDFC office at the corporation head office.

K Shamsudheeen, who is alleged to be a close relative of a senior official in the corporation, was appointed as GM without order.

Earlier, KT Adeep, a relative of Minority Welfare Minister KT Jaleel, was appointed as GM here. As complaints of nepotism were raised, Adeep resigned.

Shamsudheen was first appointed in the office as clerk-cum-computer operator on contract. Soon after, he became the Deputy Manager. The appointment was on contract for one year. Following this Muhammad Noushad was appointed as Managing Director.

After the contract period, the recommendation to extend Shamsudheen’s appointment as Deputy Manager was rejected by Noushad. He took a stand to call for applications from the qualified and conduct interview. Applications were then called for 4 posts including that of Deputy Manager.

After submitting the application, Shamsudheen took charge as GM without any appointment order the other day.

During his term as DM, he was in charge of approving loans. Noushad, who stepped down as GM on July 31, had reported that Shamsudeen had approved many loans illegally. It was also alleged that Shamsudheen was inspecting many important files in the office which a DM has nothing to do with.

Though complaints were filed with Minority Welfare Board Chairman and acting MD Dr A B Moidheenkutty and Chairman of KSMDFC Dr AP Abdul Wahab, no action was taken.

Meanwhile, Wahab said that Shamsudheen was appointed for daily wages.

“Some important files are to be submitted to the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation urgently. As the GM post was vacant, Shamsudheen was given the charge as he was experienced working as DM. Appointment order was not given. There is provision for such appointments under emergency situations,” he added.
