Police are in possession of a video in which the duo can be seen travelling in a caravan using ambulance siren.
Officials believe that the video was shot outside the state and are planning to take it up with concerned authorities after confirming the location. Videos have come about their travel through toll plazas using ambulance siren. Police said, cases were registered against them earlier too for altering vehicle. The extra lights the duo fixed on the caravan also amount to violation of traffic rules.
“It is a serious violation and we are collecting more evidence with police to initiate more legal actions against them,” said an official.
After a thorough examination of various videos, the duo aired on YouTube, the transport department officials spotted a series of violations. Another video of children crying for their release by threatening to commit suicide has had serious psychological effect on children, said officials.
The whole mess started after their caravan, named Napoleon, was seized by the Motor Vehicle Department with a fine of Rs 43,400 for altering it. It was alleged that the duo rushed to the RTO office, argued with officials on duty and disrupted functioning of office for seizing their vehicle. They were arrested for disrupting the functioning of a government office and also for threatening staff on duty. Measures have been taken to revoke the registration certificate (RC) of the vehicle.
Adv Fouse, who appeared on behalf of the accused, termed it a deliberate and collective effort to trap them as the duo was handled by police in an inhuman way. “They are not terrorists. The officials can take action against them or penalise them for violations; treating them like terrorists is not acceptable,” added Fouse.
