Mystery shrouds death of Alappuzha man in car explosion; 'source unlikely to be short-circuit'

Alappuzha: The motor vehicle department has said that the death of a man in a car explosion in Mavelikkara on Sunday midnight was unnatural. The department says the possibility of a short circuit is marginal in the particular accident.
“In case if it was a short circuit that led to the accident, the fire would have spread from the engine parts to the backside of the car. But here, the engine looks completely fine. There is absolutely no damage. The wires and fuses are intact. This is a case of unnatural death. There was a cigarette lamp in the car, and Krishna Prakash was someone who used an inhaler,” said an official from the motor vehicle department.
As per reports, the incident took place while the youth was parking the car near his house premises.
Krishna Prakash ran an internet cafe near Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Mavelikkara. The accident occurred while he was on his way home after work. Reportedly, the vehicle exploded with a thud as he was parking in front of his rented house.
Although locals rushed to the spot, they failed to douse the fire. Following which, fire brigade officers arrived and brought the fire under control, but the youth could not be saved. Meanwhile, the cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.
Krishna Prakash is the son of late Thankappan Pillai and Rathiyamma. He is unmarried.
