M.V. Govindan criticises political motivation in Karuvannur case, calls for action against ED

New Delhi: CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan criticised the alleged political motives behind the Karuvannur bank scam, accusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of targeting the party. 

Govindan said that the party will handle the issue legally and pollitically. He expressed surprise at learning about the ED's actions through media reports during a press interaction in Delhi. 

When reporters asked about the controversy hovering around former district committee member Manu Thomas' allegations against party leadership, Govindan refrained from commenting that reporters should check such things with Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan. 

Govindan warded off the questions by saying  "Why should state committee react to an incident related to some district committee member?" He dismissed the media reports in connection with this incident as fabrications,
