Muslim League to frame code of conduct for ministers, MLAs and MPs; meeting on October 3

New Delhi: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has decided to introduce guidelines for its ministers, MLAs and MPs. A meeting of the party's elected representatives, including ministers, will be held in Kozhikode on October 3.

IUML state president Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal will explain the guidelines to the party's ministers and people's representatives at the meeting.

The decision to frame the guidelines comes in the wake of the controversy over Local Self-Government Minister KM Shaji using a private individual's Range Rover instead of a government vehicle. Several leaders in the League leadership are reportedly unhappy with Shaji's action. However, senior leaders told Mathrubhumi News that organisational action against Shaji is unlikely.

Except for PK Kunhalikutty, all IUML ministers are newcomers. Several of the party's MLAs are also first-time legislators. Against this backdrop, the party leadership has decided to issue guidelines on the precautions to be taken while accepting services and facilities, including those offered by private individuals.
