Movie ticket prices likely to drop as govt pushes e-ticketing: G Suresh Kumar

Film producer and Producers Association executive committee member G Suresh Kumar hinted that movie ticket prices might come down. He said the government is moving forward with implementing e-ticketing. He was speaking at a press conference after the first meeting of the producers association’s new committee.
“The government has decided to implement e-ticketing and is moving ahead with this. This will be carried out in collaboration with the Digital University. ₹10 crore has been allocated and preliminary steps are underway,” said G Suresh Kumar.
“The biggest challenge at present is the platform BookMyShow, which charges up to ₹45 extra. The plan is to reduce this fee while ensuring theatre owners do not incur losses, bringing them on board as well. BookMyShow will also operate through the government’s server. Efforts are aimed at making cinema more affordable for the public,” he added.
