Moral policing attack: Foreign artist’s display vandalised at Kochi art gallery | VIDEO

Kochi: An incident of moral policing was reported at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery in Kochi, where artworks by a foreign artist were vandalised.
The attackers tore up lino prints that were part of an exhibition, alleging that the text in one of the artworks contained obscene words.
The moral policing attack targeted an exhibition by Norwegian artist Hanan. The lino prints had originally been created in her native language and later translated into Malayalam using Google Translate for display. It was this translated version that was destroyed.
The attack took place around 7 p.m., as the gallery was about to close. Two individuals entered the premises and tore up the prints, reportedly livestreaming their actions on social media.
The protest was allegedly led by a sculptor and artist from Ernakulam. The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi is expected to file a complaint with the police regarding the incident.
