MK Raghavan urges Union Ministers from Kerala to help State have AIIMS

Kozhikode: Newly-elected Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan urged the two new Union Ministers from Kerala to help in the development of the State. Holding that Kerala is eligible for AIIMS, he said he had met the Prime Minister and the Union Health Minister in this regard. However,  it is not clear why there is a delay, he added.

“Land has been found in Kozhikode for AIIMS. The circumstances due to which Suresh Gopi said that AIIMS will be shifted to another place is not known. If it is to be shifted elsewhere, he should clarify where… Kerala’s interest is that AIIMS should come up at Kinalur. The State Government has acquired the land here for the same,” Raghavan said, adding that it is the wish of every district to have an AIIMS of its own.

“Let Suresh Gopi clarify where the land is. I will meet both the Union Ministers from Kerala in this regard. AIIMS is a necessity in Malabar. This is the decision of the State Government as well,” Raghvan said.

On meeting K Muraleedharan, Raghavan said they talked about his defeat from Thrissur. Muraleedharan was shifted to Thrissur from Vadakara because Prathapan refused to contest. The constituency change happened with his consent. Prathapan has given a letter to AICC stating that he will not contest. In this situation,

Muraleedharan moved to Thrissur with the aim of defeating Suresh Gopi. Muraleedharan will not leave politics, he can’t,” Raghavan said.

He also added that Muraleedharan’s retreat from public life should be seen as a reaction in context of the Lok Sabha poll debacle. Raghavan said that he did not go to Thrissur for campaigning because the KPCC president and AICC general secretary were also contesting. He also claimed that there would be a UDF wave in the upcoming local body elections, and that they would learn from the failure in Thrissur.

He alleged that the CPM attempted to create communal polarisation in the election in Kozhikode. Pointing finger at Elamaram Kareem, he alleged that the Left front went door to door and bad-mouthed him. This happened in Vadakara as well, Raghavan added.

On SFI, he said there is a rising animosity against it on the campuses and that most parents see it as a terror outfit.
