Milk prices set to rise in Kerala; Minister says small increase won’t be a problem

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Minister for Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development J. Chinchu Rani on Tuesday confirmed that a decision has been made to increase milk prices.
However, due to the upcoming elections, prices cannot be raised at the moment. She stated that if MILMA submits a proposal regarding this, the government will consider it.
Meanwhile, the Minister noted that a small increase in milk prices will not be a problem, but it should not be excessive. The price hike is intended to benefit dairy farmers, she said.
However, the Minister did not specify the exact amount of the increase. Any rise in milk prices will require government approval.
If the price of milk is increased, all MILMA milk products will see a proportional price hike. The private producers are also expected to raise their prices accordingly.
