MG University to confer honorary D-Litt on writer MK Sanu, linguist Prof. Scaria Zacharia

Kottayam: Noted Malayalam writer, critic, and social activist, MK Sanu and famous linguist Professor Scaria Zacharia will be conferred with honorary D-Litt (Doctor of Letters) by Mahatma Gandhi University here. Addressing a press meet here on Monday, the university Vice Chancellor said that D-Litt is awarded to selected personalities based on the recommendations of the Syndicate.
Professor Scaria played a pivotal role in unearthing manuscripts about Herman Gundert from the University of Tübingen for linguistic studies. He also was the first Professor in the Herman Gundert Chair at the University of Tübingen. His remarkable contribution to the field energised the Malayalam knowledge network by adding more than one hundred texts to its canons.
Meanwhile, well-known researchers and scientists in the field of polymer science, Prof. Yavis Grohegens and Prof. Didion Roussel were selected for the honorary DSc (Doctor of Science). Professor Didion Russell is a scientist who has led many research activities on nanomaterials and nano compounds. He has authored more than eighty research papers and scientific books.
