Kasaragod: The Kasaragod District Principal Sessions Court on Friday issued a notice to BJP state president K Surendran asking the leader to appear in person for the trial in the Manjeswaram election bribery case.

Along with Surendran, notices have been sent to other accused in the case including Yuva Morcha former State treasurer Sunil Naik, former BJP district president K Balakrishna Shetty, leaders Suresh Naik, K Manikanda Rai, and Lokesh Nonda.

Although the court had directed all the accused, including Surendran, to appear before it last month, they failed to do so. Following which, the court issued a notice for the second time.

The court will consider the Manjeswaram election bribery case on August 5.
