Thiruvananthapuram: DCP report has stated that the Museum Police did not err in the accident case involving actor Maniyanpilla Raju. The report confirms that police visited his residence on the night of the incident, but neither the actor nor the vehicle was present at the time. It also states that the actor’s claim of calling the police that night is false.

Police arrived at Maniyanpilla Raju’s home immediately after the accident and inquired about who was driving the vehicle and in whose name it was registered. However, the report notes that neither the car nor the actor was at home. The police visited the residence twice, but the actor was absent on both occasions.

Fled out of fear

According to the report, after the car struck the bike, Maniyanpilla Raju drove away without stopping. He later appeared at the police station the following morning, where he was arrested and subsequently released on bail.

Raju had earlier told the media that he was driving the car involved in the accident and fled out of fear. He had also claimed that he had called the police that night, explaining that he was unable to visit the station at night and would come in the morning. The DCP report, however, states that no such call was made.

Instead, it was members of the public in the area who alerted the police, prompting the Museum Police to reach the location. The police had reportedly decided to take him into custody if he did not appear by 9am. The DCP’s report concludes that the police have not committed any lapse in the matter.
