Tirur (Malappuram): As many as 538 residents from a single ward in Thirunavaya Grama Panchayat, including Muslim League National Assistant Secretary and Tirur Block Panchayat member MP Mohamed Koya, have been left out of the draft voter list.

Speaking at a press conference, Mohamed Koya, who was recently elected from Ajithappadi in Ward 15 of Thirunavaya Grama Panchayat, said a large number of voters from Booth No. 181 had not been included in the draft electoral roll. He said the booth falls under the 15th ward of the panchayat.

According to him, Booth No. 181, earlier known as Booth No. 136, has a total of 1,011 registered voters. Mohamed Koya said that every voter had submitted enumeration forms along with required documents to the booth-level officer during the camp as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

He said that after the initial submission, 524 voters were instructed to provide documents once more, following which another verification camp was organised.

However, Mohamed Koya said the booth-level officer later informed him that 538 people were excluded from the published SIR draft voter list because their details were not mapped. It was later conveyed that these voters must attend a hearing.

He pointed out that hearing notices have not yet been delivered to all affected households. A petition regarding the issue has been submitted to Tirur Tehsildar, Malappuram MP E.T. Mohammed Basheer, and MLA Kurukkoli Moideen.
