‘Real Kerala story...’ CPM minister Sivankutty hails Kumbh Mela fame Monalisa and Muhammed’s courage

Thiruvananthapuram: Internet sensation Monalisa Bhonsle, who rose to fame during the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, is reportedly getting married to her boyfriend of over a year at a temple in Poovar, Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

“This is the real Kerala story. We should be proud. This is the courage of these two young people. Kerala truly is a place to live freely,” said Minister Sivankutty as he headed to the wedding.

CPM State secretary MV Govindan added, “Two independent individuals are choosing to get married, and that is the essence of the story. They chose Kerala, and a temple constructed by Sree Narayana Guru, for this special moment.”

The 18-year-old Monalisa had earlier today visited the Thampanoor police station following a tense incident on a film set in Kerala. She has been in a relationship with Muhammed Farman, which began over a year ago on social media. When her father arrived in Kerala to take her back, she refused and instead sought police assistance.

Authorities mediated between the families, reminding her father that as an adult, Monalisa has the legal right to decide her life partner. After the intervention, she left the station with her boyfriend, ready to begin the next chapter of their lives together.

Monalisa is currently in Kerala for a film shoot in Poovar.
